Research center for promoting coastal and inland water fisheries in Abashiri City
The Abashiri Fisheries Science Center was established to promote the coastal and inland water fisheries of Abashiri City.
In addition to conducting surveys and research on aquaculture, dissemination of information to the general public, and collection and storage of information on fisheries, it is also used as an open testing and research facility by each testing and research institute. Shimane University's Brackish Water Research Center and Hokkaido University's Institute of Low Temperature Science's Kan-Okhotsk Observation Research Center Abashiri Station have offices in the facility and are used in various ways, such as as a base for research.
In addition, at the attached "River and Lake Learning Center", you can learn about the history of Abashiri's rivers and lakes, where rich nature remains, and the state of the fishing industry. You can also observe the fish that you usually see in rivers and lakes, so please feel the splendor of nature through the lives of fish.
