Honda Confectionery

  • Hashikita area

A long-established confectionery shop beloved by locals for its popular Nipopo Monaka.

This is a long-established confectionery shop in Abashiri City that has been in business for over 70 years and is currently run by the third and fourth generations of the family.
The shop offers a variety of Japanese and Western sweets made with locally sourced ingredients, including wheat from Abashiri and granulated sugar. Among them, the most popular is the "Nipopo Monaka," shaped like the Nipopo, a traditional wooden craft from Abashiri. The bean paste, made from Okhotsk-grown adzuki beans and carefully cooked from scratch, is packed into these easy-to-eat monaka, offering a moist and gently sweet filling that is very satisfying.
In addition to the classic "dorayaki," our other unique sweets, such as "Moyoro Imo" (sweet potato paste), which is inspired by the Moyoro Shell Mound, a settlement ruin in Abashiri, are popular souvenirs among locals and tourists alike.
The display case on the right side of the entrance is filled with many fresh pastries. The cream puffs are especially popular. The shop owner, who trained at a confectionery shop in Asahikawa, offers a wide variety of cream puffs.
The store is spacious, allowing you to shop at your leisure while browsing the display cases.
