Lake Abashiri smelt fishing venue ends on [Sunday, February 12]

Due to the Nishi-Abashiri Fisheries Cooperative Association this season, the "ice trawl fishing" is suffering from extreme poor catches.
Since the catch did not improve, we decided to stop fishing on January 30th from the viewpoint of resource conservation.
The "Abashiri Lake Smelt Fishing Venue", which is operated by the Abashiri City Tourist Association, also held discussions with the Nishi-Abashiri Fishery Cooperative Association to protect the smelt resources [2/12 (Sunday)]. We have decided to close the business for this season.
