Lake Abashiri is one of the most popular fishing spots in Hokkaido for catching smelt. Since 2009, it has been our number one destination, guiding many people every year. We start by drilling holes in the ice with an ice drill, and then we're ready to go. For those worried about Hokkaido's cold, we have tents so you can enjoy yourself even in windy or snowy conditions. While sheltering from the cold, you can concentrate on the slightest tug on the line, and as you start catching one, then two... the fun ensues, and the conversation flows easily. The fish you catch are served as piping hot tempura right there, so you won't be able to stop eating the freshly caught smelt. Warm drinks are also available. Transportation from your accommodation is possible, so please feel free to inquire.
