A dynamic landscape awaits! We aim to see the breathtaking sight of drift ice approaching the shore and icefalls.
Since its launch in 2007, this tour has received rave reviews from many participants who say, "I'm so glad I went!" Wearing snowshoes, you'll head towards icefalls and drift ice. The dynamic icefalls on the outskirts of Abashiri are formed as water flows along the rock face, gradually freezing and creating a spectacular sight. Along the way, you'll take short breaks to enjoy the scenery and observe wild birds. You can touch and even walk on drift ice that has washed ashore, or, if the ice hasn't yet reached the shore, observe the icefall formation process or spot seals. The guide will share the charm of Abashiri "now," drawing on their diverse experience and knowledge. If the weather is good, you can even see the Shiretoko mountain range beyond the drift ice.
