Let's go see the gigantic icefall located on the Notori Peninsula.

This snowshoeing course takes you across the Notori Peninsula in search of breathtaking icefalls. As you head towards your destination, the water flowing from the waterfalls thickens day by day due to the cold, creating gigantic icefalls that can only be seen during the cold season. Some of the largest are so tall that you have to look up to see them, presenting a magnificent sight that can be called a work of art created by nature. It is a spot that you should definitely see up close and will want to photograph from various angles. Every year from late January to early March, drift ice reaches the shore below Cape Notoro. In addition to the icefalls, you can also see wild animals and their footprints along the way, and admire the Okhotsk Sea as drift ice rolls in. Especially on days with good weather and perfect conditions, just walking is a wonderful experience, and many groups of people participate in this icefall course every year.

Recommended points from the person in charge

Cape Notoro snowshoeing course includes some sections where you descend sheer cliffs, making it a somewhat challenging route and recommended for those confident in their physical fitness. A guide will lead you for approximately two hours, and hot drinks will be provided.
