Kando-no-Michi Viewpoint Parking is a spectacular spot located along the Kando-no-Michi circular course, which allows you to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the outskirts of Abashiri City.
This parking lot opened in November 2008, and its greatest attraction is the panoramic view of the Sea of Okhotsk, Lake Tofutsu, and the Shiretoko Mountain Range (including Mount Shari). The parking lot is free, and there is a parking area that can accommodate two large buses and three passenger cars, and there is also an information board explaining the mountains of the Shiretoko Mountain Range.
The "Kando-no-Michi" is a course that starts from National Route 39 in Abashiri and goes around Tentozan. It is a popular spot that has been chosen as a filming location for movies such as "Helen the Baby Fox," with its rural landscape typical of the Okhotsk Sea.
Along this road, you can enjoy a variety of rural landscapes, and in particular, you can encounter picturesque rural scenery with beautiful seasonal colors, such as potato fields with white flowers swaying in the breeze in June and July, beer barley fields shining golden in autumn, and beet fields bursting with greenery.In addition to driving, you can also enjoy cycling while taking in the view of the Sea of Okhotsk to the east and Lake Abashiri to the west.
