Forest of Abashiri where you can meet "Ezo flying squirrel", a friend of the northern land
Komaba Kinohiroba Park is a protected forest that doubles as a forest park, stretching from the Komaba district to the Tsukushigaoka district of Abashiri City. Within the park, visitors can stroll among the seasonal flowers and trees, including Japanese ash and Siberian cherry trees, and enjoy forest bathing. Birdwatching is also available in the forest, home to a variety of birds, including woodpeckers like the great spotted woodpecker, Japanese pygmy woodpecker, and grey-crowned woodpecker, as well as titmice and varied tits.
