Sunflower field in Abashiri City Omagari Lakeside Park

A Omagari Kohanenchi using the former farmland of Abashiri Prison

In 2005, the site of the former Abashiri Prison farm was refurbished into a tourist farm with a total area of 80 hectares.

In the Omagari Lakeside Park, the Omagari Kohanenchi is cultivated twice. The first crop is from mid to late July, when about 1.5 million sunflowers are in full bloom. The second event will be held from mid-September to late September, when approximately 2.6 million sunflowers will bloom on a vast site of approximately 18 hectares (approximately four times the size of Tokyo Dome).
In addition to being able to walk through the Omagari Kohanenchi while feeling the autumn breeze, the cosmos field is also in full bloom, so it is also attractive to enjoy two flower fields at the same time. You can also overlook the Omagari Kohanenchi from the wooden observatory installed in the park.
