Sunflower field in Abashiri City Omagari Lakeside Park

A Omagari Kohanenchi using the former farmland of Abashiri Prison

In 2005, the site of the former Abashiri Prison farm was refurbished into a tourist farm with a total area of 80 hectares.

At Omagari Lakeside Park, Omagari Kohanenchi are cultivated in two seasons, the first from early to mid-July, when about 750,000 sunflowers are in full bloom, and the second from late September to early October, when about 2.6 million sunflowers bloom across the vast 14-hectare site.
In addition to being able to stroll through Omagari Kohanenchi while feeling the autumn breeze, the cosmos fields are also in full bloom, so you can enjoy two flower fields at the same time. You can also get a panoramic view of Omagari Kohanenchi from the wooden observation deck installed in the garden.
