Tournament details

■It will be a total competition for 2 days, so you cannot participate only for 1 day.
Competition method: Team system of 3 people.
Compete for the total weight of the smelt caught during the competition over the two days.

*Registration opens one hour before each event.
Entry fee 1 team 12,000 yen
■ The participation fee includes fishing fees for three people for two days, rental rods, tackle, and bait.
■ Please bring your own chairs. Chairs are available for rental for a fee. There are no child fees.
■ Please transfer the participation fee to the designated account by 12:00 (noon) on December 25, 2024.
*If payment is not made by the deadline, your registration will not be completed and you will not be able to participate.
Recruitment capacity We are looking for a total of 50 teams with 3 people per team. (The scale may be reduced depending on the situation.)
Teams that have decided to participate in the tournament will be notified by e-mail and a participation ticket will be sent at a later date.

*If there are more than 50 applications, participants will be determined by lottery, and participants will be notified of the results of the lottery by email immediately after the deadline.

About withdrawing from participation In the event that there is a vacancy due to a decline in participation, etc., we will move up from among the teams that have not been selected according to the winning order, and we hope that more people will participate. If you are unable to participate in the tournament, please contact us as soon as possible.

Competition Rules (revised January 2023)

Lake Abashiri Smelt Fishing Championship Rules
-The event will be held in teams of three people.
The competition will last for two days, with a total of four hours, two hours on the first day and two hours on the second day.
Rankings will be determined by the total weight of smelt caught during the two-day competition period.
- Fishing holes will be selected by lottery on the first and second days.

Competition Rules
In order to ensure that the competition is fair and impartial, the following rules have been established. Competitors will respect the rules and etiquette in accordance with sportsmanship, and will participate in the competition by promising to abide by the rules in order to compete fairly as "anglers."
1. Participants must register in groups of three, and substitutions with other participants during the competition period will not be permitted. Participants may change their registration if they apply for a change to the competition secretariat by the day before the competition and are approved.
2. If a team has a vacancy during the tournament, a replacement will not be allowed. However, the team may continue to play with the vacant member.
3. The only fish species that can be competed in the competition is smelt.
4. Only smelt caught from fishing holes designated by lottery within the competition time will be eligible for weighing.
5. Transferring or lending smelt to other teams is not permitted under any circumstances.
6. Smelt that are not subject to weighing will not be allowed to be brought into the competition venue.
7. Fishing rods, tackles, and baits used in the competition will be loaned or provided by the competition office, and only one fishing group per person will be allowed to bring in any other fishing gear. However, minimum equipment that does not affect the catch (scissors, hook removers, containers, ice scoops) may be brought in and used. In the event of damage to tackles or shortage of baits, tackles and baits provided by the competition office may be replaced or added for a fee.
8. Bringing and using bait is prohibited. Reusing bait for other purposes is not permitted.
9. Bringing and using tents is not permitted.
10. Any processing or alteration of the fish that would hinder fair weighing is not permitted.
11. Fishing holes will be selected by lottery each day. Exchanging fishing holes with other teams is not permitted.
12. Competitors must not obstruct other competitors.
 
13. Competitors must follow the instructions of tournament officials and staff.
14. Competitors must strictly refrain from any conduct that may cause significant inconvenience to other participants or the general recreational fisherman, or that violates public order and morals.
15. Any conduct not falling under the above provisions may be prohibited if the tournament secretariat determines that such conduct is impairing fairness and impartiality.
16. If the tournament secretariat determines that a competitor has violated any of the above provisions, the tournament secretariat may issue a warning or disqualify the competitor. If a competitor is disqualified, the competition participation qualification will be cancelled and the team will not be able to continue the competition. The tournament participation qualification registration fee (participation fee) will not be refunded.
17. Any protests regarding the results or conduct of the competition will be submitted by a team representative 10 minutes after the official announcement of the results.
The protest must be submitted verbally to the Chief Referee within 30 minutes of the protest. The Chief Referee must make a decision within 30 minutes of the protest. This decision is final and no further protests will be allowed.
18. The results of the competition will be finalized when the Competition Chairman declares the competition finished.
19. Ranking will be decided by the total weight of the first and second days.
In the event that there is a tie between teams, the team with the lowest average ranking value on the first and second days will be ranked higher, with the rest moving down. If the rankings are still not decided by this, they will be determined by drawing lots.

Supplementary Provisions These competition methods and rules will be applied from January 17, 2014.
