Hana Tento flower Park Adopt Program

The flower garden managed and operated by citizen volunteers is full of love!

Abashiri City is using the slopes of Tentozan Lake View Ski Resort to develop a flower garden as a tourist spot and a place for residents to relax. This project is an initiative to promote tourism development in collaboration with residents, and every year residents become foster parents of the flower garden (adopt-a-program), and in fiscal year 2025 they planted salvia and took care of the garden by weeding and other maintenance.
The magnificent flowers have been featured nationwide on television and in newspapers, and the park is included as part of travel tours, making it a popular tourist spot for local residents, local residents, and tourists from all over the country.
This year, we would like to continue developing the flower garden to welcome many local residents and tourists, and are looking for groups, organizations, NPOs, and businesses to help with the development activities.

What is an adopt program?

An "adopt program" is a program in which a corporate group or group "adopts" a certain public area such as a road, river, or park, and maintains the area by cleaning and greening it.
What makes the "adopt program" different from general volunteer activities is that the participating organizations and the administration exchange a certain contract. In return for participating organizations to develop their areas of responsibility, the administrative side will support the activities of each organization and install signboards to widely appeal their contribution to the community.

Outline of Adopt Program for Hana Tento flower Park

Abashiri City will provide the flower seedlings and tools for the participating groups to plant. The planting area will then be plowed and fertilized. The participating groups will plant the flower seedlings in early to mid-June, and will then manage the flower garden by replanting and weeding approximately six to eight times until the end of October.
Abashiri City will set up signs for each participating group in the garden and will also conduct PR activities with the media to publicize Hana Tento flower Park and the activities of the participating groups. As a safety net, each group will take out personal injury insurance, and will be covered for accidents during activities within the scope of the insurance, to help ensure that activities can be carried out smoothly.
