At the ``59th Abashiri Okhotsk Drift Ice Festival'', which is currently in preparation for the event, we will be holding a visitor participation event ``Namara Hotsho! Drift Ice Kayak Pulling Competition''! Teams of four people participate, with two people riding a kayak and two others competing for the best pulling time. The winning team will receive a prize of 40,000 yen, so please form the strongest team ✨ and participate to win the prize!

Regarding recruitment of contestants

The number of applicants is 1 team of 4 people. Anyone can participate, regardless of whether they live in or outside the city.
Applications are accepted until January 30, 2020 (Tuesday). *However, if the number of applied teams exceeds 10, a lottery will be held.

Drift ice kayak pulling competition application form

Competition method

The race will be run in a time trial format with one group running at a time.
The competition distance is approximately 30 meters, with two people riding the kayak and two people pulling the kayak, making two round trips. The time taken to stop the kayak with a person on board within the goal area (10m x 10m) will be recorded.
Regarding handicap, if the team includes children under elementary school age, whether male or female, the handicap will be minus 3 seconds per person, and if the team includes women, the handicap will be minus 3 seconds per person.
Please note that participants wearing spiked shoes will be disqualified. Also, you can only fly twice, and you will be disqualified if you fly three times.

About prize money

1st place will receive a prize of 40,000 yen, 2nd place will receive a prize of 10,000 yen, and 3rd place will receive a prize of 4,000 yen.
