Hello, this is the Abashiri City Tourism Association.
This is the sixth e-mail newsletter.
We will provide you with the latest information on Abashiri, so please use it when planning your trip.

1. Koshimizu Primeval Flower Garden

The best time to visit the Koshimizu Primeval Flower Garden is from mid-June to late July. Yellow Hemerocallis sieboldii, orange Siberian lilies, and bright pink Rugosa roses adorn the hills between the Sea of Okhotsk and Lake Tofutsu, along with a variety of other native flowers.
You can also take a walk along the sandy coastline and feel the refreshing breeze. This is the most recommended tourist spot at this time of year.
By car or by taking the JR Senmo Main Line to Koshimizu Gensei Kaen Station. Admission is free.

2. JR Senmo Main Line and Kitahama station

In July, the Hemerocallis sieboldii flowers are in full bloom, and the Senmo Main Line chugs through them. The train then arrives at Kitahama Kitahama station, the station closest to the Sea of Okhotsk. Entering the wooden station building, which exudes a rustic atmosphere, business cards have been posted up since some time ago, and now countless business cards can be seen.
The cafe "Teishaba" attached to the station building is modeled after the interior of an old train, creating a wonderful atmosphere. From the station platform you can get a close-up view of the Sea of Okhotsk, and from the observation deck you can look out over the Shiretoko Peninsula.
Kitahama station has a great atmosphere and has been used as a filming location for many movies both in Japan and overseas. Why not immerse yourself in nostalgia?
