We will provide you with the latest information on Abashiri, so please use it when planning your trip.

1. Koshimizu Native Flower Garden

The Koshimizu Wildflower Garden is at its best from mid-June to late July. Yellow daylilies, orange lilies, and vibrant pink Japanese roses adorn the hills nestled between the Sea of Okhotsk and Lake Tofutsu, along with a variety of other native flowers.
You can also take a stroll along the sandy beaches of the coastline and enjoy the refreshing breeze. This is the most recommended tourist destination at this time of year.
You can access the park by car, JR Senmo Main Line Koshimizu Genshokaen Station, or Abashiri Bus (Koshimizu Line) Genshokaen bus stop. Admission is free.

2. JR Senmo Main Line and Kitahama station

As July arrives, the Ezo daylilies come into full bloom, and the Senmo Main Line train trundles through them. It then arrives at Kitahama station, the station closest to the Sea of Okhotsk. Inside the simple, wooden station building, business cards have been plastered on the walls for some time now, and countless business cards can be seen.
The "Teishajo" (Station) café, located next to the station building, has a fantastic atmosphere with its interior modeled after that of an old train. You can also enjoy a close-up view of the Sea of Okhotsk from the station platform.
Kitahama station with its fantastic atmosphere, has been used as a filming location for various movies both domestically and internationally. Why not immerse yourself in some nostalgia?

3. Cape Notoro "The Bell That Grants Wishes" and "Ema (votive tablets) made of Scallop Shells"

Last December, a "Bell that Grants Wishes" and "Scallop Shell Ema (votive tablets)" were newly installed along the coast near Cape Notoro Cape Lighthouse. Entrust your wish to a scallop shell ema and ring the bell facing the Sea of Okhotsk. It will not only become a memorable part of your trip, but the lighthouse's light will carry your wish to the sky and make it come true. We offer you this special experience. The bell that grants wishes is free, and the scallop shell ema cost 500 yen.

The "Ryuhyo Kaido Abashiri" roadside station's tourist information center offers rentals of various types of bicycles, including city bikes, cross-road bikes, and electric-assist bicycles. Why not enjoy a cycling trip to Cape Notoro?

4. Kando-no-Michi Viewpoint

When you think of Hokkaido, many people picture its vast landscapes. Kando-no-Michi offers a quintessential Hokkaido scene of wheat and potato fields. On clear days, you can even see the Shiretoko mountain range. There are parking lots at the viewpoints, allowing you to take your time and enjoy the scenery. Why not stop by during your next drive?

5. Omagari Lakeside Park Omagari Kohanenchi

The Omagari Lakeside Park Omagari Kohanenchi are best viewed twice a year, the first time around July 15th when they reach full bloom. The approximately 750,000 sunflowers are well worth seeing. The sunflowers are small, but they really make people stand out.
By the way, during the second Abashiri Marathon in late September, 2.6 million sunflowers bloom, one of the most in Japan, and it is truly a spectacular sight.

6. Abashiri Okhotsk Summer Festival: July 23rd (Thu) - 25th (Sat), 2025

The main highlight of the Abashiri Okhotsk Summer Festival is the fireworks display held on Saturday, the 25th. The spectacular fireworks, which can be seen up close, are popular every year, and the viewing area has been expanded since last year for better visibility. In addition, there will be a food festival featuring local restaurants and fun stage performances.
On the 23rd, the 44th Summer Beer Festival will be held as a pre-festival event, and on the 24th, the Drift Ice Dance will take place in the apt4 shopping street. Please come and join us for this summer festival and fireworks display that will add color to the height of summer.

7. Cherry Tomato Harvesting Experience

From mid-July to late August, a mini-tomato harvesting experience will be held at the Omagari Lakeside Park. These are sweet, juicy fruit tomatoes. More details will be posted on the Abashiri City Tourism Association's official website, "Oishii Machi Abashiri" (Delicious Town Abashiri).
