3. Drift Ice Story Train JR Hokkaido Senmo Main Line

Starting Saturday, February 1st, the "Ryuhyo Monogatari" train will be operating, allowing passengers to enjoy the spectacular views of the Sea of Okhotsk coast from the train window. To allow passengers to enjoy the scenery even more, the train will slow down in some sections and stop at Kitahama station on the outbound journey and Hamakoshimizu Station on the inbound journey.
This year, there will be a collaboration with the TV game "Disappearing in Okhotsk," which is set in eastern Hokkaido, and you can enjoy information about the area along the train line and purchase of original collaborative goods.

4. Kitahama station (JR Hokkaido Senmo Main Line)

Kitahama station was also the filming location for the movie "Abashiri Bangaichi," and is the station closest to the Sea of Okhotsk and the drift ice. In winter, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the drift ice and the Shiretoko mountain range from the observation deck next to the station building.
Inside the station, you can also enjoy a meal at the "Teishaba" restaurant, which has a retro atmosphere, and the surprising sight of travelers' business cards plastered all over the station.

5. Cape Notoro Lighthouse and Fat Bike

A fat bike is a bicycle that can be cycled without slipping even on ice. It allows you to enjoy the natural air, the sound of the waves, the chirping of birds, the scent of nature, and other experiences that you cannot get from a car.
